A really poorly thought out article - google has made mistakes and will continue to do so regardless of whether they implement RTO or not. Twitter was not “in shambles” before Elon took over. It had its own identity problems, mission problems and depending on who you ask, Musk made it worse. It’s definitely no town square. Also has nothing to do with RTO. OpEx is a real and huge line item on every company’s balance sheet. What will they do with the real estate, the fancy offices, without inhabitants? There has to be an answer, and that answer is forcing RTO and giving silly reasons for it. There are benefits of working side by side, and there are benefits of working remotely. If a company doesn’t find a happy medium, they will lose the good folks. That’s basically all there is to it.
